Silvia Nastasio

Silvia Nastasio is an Attending Physician in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Boston Children’s Hospital and an Instructor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Her clinical practice focuses on pediatric liver diseases, including Alagille Syndrome, Autoimmune Hepatitis, Biliary Atresia, and Liver Transplantation. She is affiliated with the Center for Childhood Liver Disease and the Multidisciplinary Immune Dysregulation and Autoimmunity Syndrome (MIDAS) Clinic and Discovery Program.

• Education: Medical School at University of Pisa (2008), Residencies in Pediatrics at Santa Chiara University Hospital (2015) and Boston Combined Residency Program (2021), Fellowships in Pediatric Gastroenterology (2023) and Transplant Hepatology (2024) at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Her research interests center on pediatric liver diseases, autoimmune hepatitis, and translational studies in liver transplantation. Recent work includes studies on telomere biology disorders, autoimmune mechanisms, and therapeutic advancements in Alagille syndrome.

She contributes to the Liver Transplant Program and collaborates on international multicenter cohorts. Her clinical expertise spans both common and rare pediatric gastrointestinal and hepatic conditions, with a focus on improving diagnostic and treatment strategies for chronic liver diseases.
