Silke Hemming

Silke Hemming is a Group Leader at the Glastuinbouw Technologie (GTB) department of Wageningen University & Research. Her research focuses on greenhouse technology, energy efficiency, and the application of artificial intelligence in horticultural systems. She leads projects on innovative screen materials, circular fertilization frameworks, and autonomous greenhouse management. Key areas include optimizing light diffusion in greenhouses, developing energy-saving screen technologies, and advancing smart materials for climate control. Hemming has supervised PhD candidates in ornamental plant production and co-organized international challenges like the Autonomous Greenhouse Challenge.
