معرفی
Assoc Professor Siew Chai is a neuroscientist at Monash University's Department of Physiology, affiliated with the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute and Victorian Heart Institute. Her research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's, through studying insulin-regulated aminopeptidase (IRAP). She has pioneered IRAP inhibitor therapies showing promise in reversing memory deficits and reducing amyloid plaques in preclinical models.
Her work integrates drug discovery, enzymology, and translational medicine. Key contributions include identifying IRAP's role in neuroinflammation, fibrosis, and stroke recovery. She has secured grants from Commercialisation Australia and collaborates with institutions like the Howard Florey Institute and Biolink. Over 128 publications and 7 patents underscore her impact in neuropharmacology and enzyme therapeutics.
Research interests span IRAP's dual roles in metabolic and neural pathways, with projects targeting cardiovascular protection, kidney fibrosis, and stroke neuroprotection. Awards recognize her innovative approaches to combating neurodegeneration. She mentors PhD students exploring IRAP's translational potential in clinical settings.
