Dr. Sidong Liu is a Senior Research Fellow at Macquarie University's Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI), leading the Translational AI for Healthcare research stream. He holds a Bachelor's in Bioinformatics from Harbin Institute of Technology (C9 League) and dual Master's degrees in Bioinformatics and Computer Science from the University of Sydney. His PhD research, supported by the USYD International Scholarship, focused on health informatics and AI under Professors Tom Cai and David Feng. He spent time at Harvard Medical School's Surgical Planning Lab (SPL) as a research trainee under Prof. Ron Kikinis. Liu has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the 2021 Macquarie Early Career Researcher Award and the AIHI Researcher of the Year Award.
His research focuses on AI-driven solutions in healthcare, particularly neuroimaging, medical image analysis, and translational AI applications. Current projects include Quantum MEG Scanner design, AI advisories for health professionals, and AI-driven cancer models. He has authored over 140 publications and actively participates in organizing conferences like the International Conference on Nano Bio Intelligence and Emerging Researchers in Health Informatics Symposium.
Key research interests include deep learning for medical imaging, brain tumor diagnostics, and computational neurosurgery. His work bridges AI innovation with clinical practice, emphasizing translational impact in healthcare.
