Sidi Becar Meyara is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies and Philosophy at Utah State University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication Studies from Ohio University and serves as Global Communication Coordinator. Meyara's research examines identity negotiation within immigrant communities through postcolonial and rhetorical lenses, with specific focus on Mauritanian diaspora experiences and representations of Otherness in Western discourse.
Research specialties include:
- Postcolonial analysis of migration narratives
- Xenophobia in public discourse
- Rhetorical constructions of cultural identity
- Intercultural communication paradigms
His scholarly output includes publications in communication theory, pedagogical applications of media, and post-9/11 cultural experiences.
