Sidharthan Maunaguru is an Associate Professor and the inaugural Chair in Tamil Studies at the Department of Historical and Cultural Studies, University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC). He holds a tri-campus graduate appointment with the Department of Anthropology and is affiliated with multiple institutions, including the University of Toronto's Faculty of Arts and Science. His research spans anthropology, history, and philosophy, focusing on Tamil communities in Sri Lanka and its diaspora.

Maunaguru explores themes such as war, violence, migration, religion, sovereignty, and ethics, often through multi-site ethnography. His work engages with uncertainty and future-making in transnational Tamil marriages, intersecting with post-war governance and cultural practices.

Key topics include sovereignty during conflict, religious resilience in displacement, and ethical dimensions of future-oriented practices.
