Shuyan Sun

Dr. Shuyan Sun is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). She specializes in quantitative research methods, psychometrics, and their applications in social and behavioral research. Her work focuses on longitudinal data modeling, Monte Carlo simulations, and educational psychology, particularly in academic development and STEM learning environments.

Dr. Sun holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati. Her research explores topics such as children’s academic achievement, school engagement, and STEM education from K-12 to higher education. She leads the Quantitative Methods Lab, offering training in statistical analysis and supporting undergraduate and graduate research.

Her teaching includes courses on research methods, statistical analysis, and measurement theory.
