Shumona Dasgupta is an Associate Professor in the Department of English and Linguistics at the University of Mary Washington, College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. from SUNY Stony Brook and has presented extensively on Indian Partition representations across academic conferences.

Her research focuses on postcolonial trauma theory, memory studies, and gender analysis in South Asian cinema. She explores how partition narratives are preserved through alternative archives and memorialized across cultural productions.
Recent work examines Bollywood and Bengali film representations of partition violence, with attention to maternal figures, national identity construction, and Muslim narrative perspectives. She has received recognition through conference paper nominations like the MAPACA Donald Award.
