Shuguang Deng is a Professor in the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy at Arizona State University (ASU), where he has been affiliated since August 2015. He also holds affiliations with the Water Institute and Global Futures Scientists and Scholars at ASU. Prior to joining ASU, he served as the Distinguished Bob Davis Professor at New Mexico State University (NMSU), advancing to Associate Professor in 2006 and full Professor in 2009.

His recent research activity includes the Sorbent-Based Oxygen Production for Energy Systems project (2014-2016), which aligns with his expertise in separation processes and energy-efficient technologies.
