Shubhi Sharma is a PhD candidate in Environmental Sociology at the University of Edinburgh, specializing in the intersection of conservation policies, indigenous rights, and gender studies. Her research focuses on REDD+ initiatives among Adivasi communities in India's Khasi Hills. She has held academic roles as a Tutor for courses like 'Sustainable Development 2A' and 'Sociology 1B' (2017–2021) and served as a Research Assistant on projects related to environmental sociology and digital economies.
Research Interests: Her work integrates Marxist and Foucauldian theories to analyze how conservation projects like REDD+ shape environmental governance, gendered identities, and structural inequalities. Key themes include Adivasi agency, resource commercialization, and the entanglement of personal and institutional power dynamics.
Awards & Conferences: Recipient of the Annette Lawson Trust award (2020). Organized panels at the British Association for South Asian Studies (2021) and presented research at the British Sociological Association Annual Conference (2019) and the NIAS Environmental Asia course (2017).
