Bérengère Digard is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Edinburgh's Department of Psychology, affiliated with the Patrick Wild Centre and the Scottish Autism Research Group. She holds a PhD in Psychiatry and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her research focuses on the intersection of bilingualism and autism, particularly exploring socio-cognitive processes like perspective-taking in autistic adults. She has been awarded an ESRC Post-Doctoral Fellowship and the British Science Association Lectureship Award.
Education includes a BSc in Biology from Université Claude Bernard Lyon, followed by Master's degrees in Neuroscience and Integrative Biology. Her teaching roles have included Lecturer positions at Queen Margaret University and the University of Glasgow, focusing on child development and psychology. She has supervised numerous MSc and undergraduate students in autism-related research.
Her research emphasizes neurodiversity and practical applications, such as co-creating resources for parents and clinicians on bilingualism in autism. She is also involved in public engagement, including science communication initiatives like Pint of Science and co-producing educational materials across 16 languages. Current projects include investigating aphantasia/hyperphantasia's cognitive profiles and collaborating on policy briefs for neurodivergent populations.
