Dr. Shuangbo Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. She specializes in interventional cardiology and leads research on clinical outcomes after acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). She is affiliated with the Manitoba Acute Coronary Syndrome Network, the Interventional Cardiology Research Institute (ICRI), and the Canadian Cardiovascular Research Collaboratory (C3). Her work focuses on cardiovascular disparities, women’s heart health, and innovative PCI techniques.
Education: MD from the University of Manitoba (2011), Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba (2007), and a fellowship in interventional cardiology at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science at the University of Toronto.
Research Interests: Acute coronary syndrome mechanisms, microvascular disease, PCI optimization, spontaneous coronary artery dissection, and MINOCA (myocardial infarction with no obstructive coronary artery disease). She investigates psychological distress post-MI and gender disparities in cardiovascular care.
Awards: Multiple grants and accolades, including the CardioVascular Clinical Trials Young Investigator Grant (2018/2019), Can-FUEL program (2019), and Sanofi Canada/Heart & Stroke Foundation Award (2017).
Advising & Grants: Currently accepting Master's students. Her research is supported by grants from the Young Investigator program and St. Michael’s Hospital.
Research Groups: Leads the Manitoba ACS Network and collaborates with ICRI and C3 to advance cardiovascular outcomes research.
