University of Leedsمعرفی
Professor John P Greenwood is a Professor of Cardiology at the University of Leeds and Consultant Cardiologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He specializes in coronary intervention and cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging, leading major clinical trials such as CE-MARC and CE-MARC II. He currently serves as President of the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) and previously led the British Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (BSCMR). His work focuses on improving outcomes for patients with coronary artery disease, including stable angina and acute coronary syndromes, through advanced imaging and interventional techniques.
Education: MBChB (Leeds, 1991), PhD in Cardiology (Leeds, funded by British Heart Foundation).
Research interests include CMR applications in ischaemic heart disease, valvular heart disease assessment (e.g., TAVI/SAVR), and optimizing PCI for STEMI. He directs the Leeds Teaching Hospitals' Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility and collaborates on trials like CvLPRIT and CONDI-2/ERIC-PPCI.
Key publications emphasize CMR's role in risk stratification, outcomes of non-invasive diagnostics, and therapeutic strategies in acute coronary syndromes. His work bridges imaging innovation with clinical trial design to reduce unnecessary procedures and improve patient care.
Leadership roles include RCP London Council membership and SCMR committees. He pioneered Leeds' large CMR service and contributes to regional PCI networks.
