Shuang Zhang is an Associate Professor of Economics at Imperial College Business School and a Research Fellow at the CEPR's Climate Change and Environment program. She holds a PhD from Cornell University and previously served as a SIEPR Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University and an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her work focuses on environmental and energy economics, climate policy, and gender inequality, with a particular emphasis on China's policy landscapes and socioeconomic dynamics.
Her research spans topics including carbon trading, air quality impacts of lockdowns, cryptocurrency emissions, and land reform effects on gender disparities. She has contributed to high-impact journals like the American Economic Journal, Journal of Political Economy, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Current projects include evaluating China's National Carbon Trading Scheme and examining microclimate risks for urban businesses.
Zhang’s work bridges empirical analysis and policy design, often employing econometric methods to assess environmental and developmental interventions.
