Shu-ting Hsu is a Lecturer in the Department of Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She holds a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from National Taiwan Normal University and a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Literature from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan.

Her research and teaching focus on Chinese language education, particularly content-based advanced Chinese courses and integrating community-based learning into language curricula. She emphasizes creating interactive, student-centered classrooms that connect course materials to learners' lives, aiming to elevate language proficiency and cultural understanding.
Shu-ting has taught Chinese across Europe, Asia, and North America, including positions at Heidelberg University (Germany), National Taiwan University, National Taiwan Normal University’s Mandarin Training Center, and the Associated Colleges in China (ACC). She previously spent seven years at Duke University, where she taught all levels of Chinese for heritage and non-heritage tracks, including business Chinese and intercultural courses.

Shu-ting is passionate about music, playing drums and guitar to unwind. She joined UBC after falling in love with Vancouver during a visit in 2022, seeking to immerse herself in its diverse and inclusive environment while advancing her teaching career.
