Dr. Shonagh Hill is a Research Fellow at Queen's University Belfast's School of Arts, English and Languages, leading the AHRC-funded project Generations and Feminist Temporalities in Contemporary Northern Irish Performance. Her work examines theatre, performance art, and dance in Northern Ireland to analyze feminist histories and intergenerational relationships. Previously, she held a Marie Curie Fellowship (2020-2022) for the Generational Feminisms in Contemporary Northern Irish Performance project.
Her research explores feminist temporalities, embodied experiences of women, and gender dynamics in post-conflict societies. Key interests include intergenerational solidarities, performance as cultural critique, and the intersection of politics with artistic practice in Northern Ireland.
Hill's publications focus on feminist movements in choreography, gendered cultural histories, and reproductive activism, consistently highlighting Northern Ireland's socio-political context. Her work integrates performance analysis with feminist theory to interrogate identity formation.
