Dr. Shoaib Sarfraz is an MTC Manufacturing Futures Fellow at the University of Birmingham's Department of Mechanical Engineering, focusing on Sustainable Manufacturing and Circular Economy. He holds a PhD in Manufacturing from Cranfield University (2021), an MRes from UET Taxila (2016), and a BEng from UET Taxila (2014).
His research emphasizes minimizing environmental impacts through advanced manufacturing solutions, energy efficiency, and process optimization. He has published over 50 papers and supervised 20+ Masters students.
Key research interests include Sustainable Manufacturing, Circular Economy, Energy Efficiency, Benchmarking, and Environmental Impact Assessment. Recent work explores data-driven sustainable production and Net Zero 2050 alignment.
Prior roles include Research Fellow at Cranfield University on the TransFIRe project and work with Grundfos on eco-design tools for pumps.
