Shirley Levitan is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Queen's University. Since 1988, she has practiced law in Toronto with a focus on family law and fertility law since 1991 and 1996, respectively. Her expertise includes reproductive technology arrangements, cross-border legal issues, and parentage declarations in surrogacy cases.

Shirley specializes in intersections of family law, fertility law, and ethics. She co-chairs the Law and Ethics Special Interest Group of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society and contributed to legislative reforms like Bill 28, amending Ontario’s Children’s Law Reform Act.
Her legal scholarship focuses on assisted reproduction, surrogacy, and international birth registration challenges. Her recent work, 50 Debates in Reproductive Medicine, addresses ethical dilemmas in reproductive law.
