Shirley Ho is a Senior Research Scientist at the Flatiron Institute's Center for Computational Astrophysics (CCA). She joined the Simons Foundation in 2018 to lead the Cosmology X Data Science group. Her research bridges cosmology and data science, leveraging interdisciplinary techniques to solve fundamental problems in astrophysics.
- Education: Ph.D. in Astrophysical Sciences from Princeton University (2008), B.S. in Computer Science and Physics from UC Berkeley (2004)
Ho develops novel statistical and machine learning methods to analyze cosmic surveys like ACT, Euclid, LSST, and Roman Space Telescope, focusing on the origins and evolution of the universe. Her work spans astrophysical theory, observational data analysis, and cross-domain computational techniques.
Scientific Awards:
- Macronix Prize
- Carnegie Science Award
- Blavatnik National Finalist
- EPS Giuseppe and Vanna Cocconi Prize in Cosmology
She has mentored over 50 postdocs, 10 Ph.D. students, and 20 undergraduates across astrophysics, computer science, and statistics, with affiliations at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, Carnegie Mellon University, and Princeton University.
