Shirley Albano-Aluquin

Shirley Albano-Aluquin, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine Division of Rheumatology at Penn State College of Medicine. She specializes in rheumatology with additional fellowship training in Geriatric Medicine. Her clinical practice focuses on giant cell arteritis, sarcoidosis, vasculitis, and granulomatous diseases at Penn State Health clinic in Middletown, PA.

• BS in Basic Medical Sciences from University of the Philippines (1989)
• Rheumatology Fellowship at UCLA (1998-2000)
• Geriatrics Fellowship at Stanford University (2000-2001)

Research Interests: Profiling inflammatory microenvironments in giant cell arteritis and systemic lupus erythematosus neuropathies. She has presented internationally and published peer-reviewed work on telemedicine applications and vascular immune mechanisms.

Teaching: Leads rheumatology education for medical students and residents, emphasizing musculoskeletal exam skills and chronic arthritis management.
