Shirin Maria Massumi is Professor of Commercial and Labor Law at the Faculty of Business Administration, Bundeswehr University Munich, holding this position since May 2022. She integrates extensive legal practice with academic research and teaching, focusing on law-business interdependencies in contemporary contexts.

Her research centers on artificial intelligence regulation in business and labor contexts, analyzing European AI Act frameworks and German legal implementations. She investigates how digital transformation impacts employment law and corporate governance, with particular emphasis on transnational legal harmonization. This work directly informs her innovative 'Innovation and Labor Law' lecture series introduced at Bundeswehr University Munich in Fall 2024.
Professor Massumi leverages two decades of cross-sector experience from law firms, financial institutions, private equity, and multinational corporations in her academic role. Previously, she taught commercial law to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students at Technical Universities of Rosenheim and Ingolstadt, consistently bridging theoretical concepts with practical legal applications through case-based methodologies.
