Shirin Faraji is Full Professor of Theoretical Chemistry at the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, University of Groningen. Her research develops hybrid quantum/classical approaches for modeling light-induced processes in complex environments, with applications in solar energy harvesting and photopharmacology.
Key research areas:
- Data-driven excited-state dynamics
- Machine learning-enhanced quantum mechanics
- Nonadiabatic molecular dynamics
- Photoswitching mechanisms
Honors include NWO Vidi grant and multiple fellowships. Editorial roles include Q-Chem Scientific Board and advisory boards for Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics and Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation.
Recent publications demonstrate methodological advances in simulating photoinduced processes and applications in neurotransmitter transport and ion channel modulation.
