Shin Oblander is an Assistant Professor in the Marketing and Behavioural Science Division at the UBC Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. He holds a PhD from Columbia University and a BS from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, with a focus on quantitative marketing and actuarial science.
His research focuses on causal inference, representation learning, and probabilistic machine learning applied to consumer decision-making. Notable contributions include analyzing long-term consumption impacts of major events like the pandemic and exploring replicability in social science research. His work has been published in top journals like Marketing Science and Psychological Science, earning recognition such as the Best Paper Award at the Marketing Strategy Meets Wall Street Conference.
