Shin, Jong Cheol

Jong Cheol Shin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Population Health at Lehigh University’s College of Health. His interdisciplinary expertise spans epidemiology, health geography, kinesiology, and health technologies, with a focus on bridging fundamental research and practical applications in health science through advanced technologies.

• Education: Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brown University School of Public Health; Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Community Health, Applied Statistics, and Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Dual B.S. in Sports Medicine and Physics from Kyung Hee University.

His research examines how social and built environments affect human behavior, particularly sleep and physical activity, while leveraging health technologies like wearables and AR/VR for health interventions. He also prioritizes evidence synthesis to advance health equity.
