Shih-Ho Chao is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. He earned a Ph.D. in Structural and Materials Engineering from the University of Michigan (2005), an M.S. in Structural Engineering from National Chung-Hsing University, and a B.S. in Bioenvironmental Systems Engineering from National Taiwan University. His research focuses on high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete, earthquake engineering, seismic design, and large-scale testing of structural systems.
He co-authored Prestressed Concrete Analysis and Design: Fundamentals and Performance-Based Plastic Design—Earthquake Resistant Steel Structures. He has received multiple awards, including the ACI Mete A. Sozen Award (2021) and AISC Milek Fellowship (2011). His work advances resilient infrastructure through material innovation and seismic safety protocols.
