Shian Wang is an Assistant Professor at The University of Kansas, affiliated with the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering and the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department (courtesy). His research focuses on computational and data-driven methods for transportation cyber-physical systems (T-CPS), integrating traffic flow theory, control engineering, optimization, and machine learning.
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, University of Minnesota (2022)
- M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Ottawa (2018)
- B.S. in Automation (Traffic Information & Control), Chang'an University (2016)
Wang's work addresses the modeling, analysis, control, and optimization of T-CPS, which combine physical components (vehicles, infrastructure) with computational elements (sensors, software) to advance smart cities and sustainability.
His scientific achievements have been recognized with awards such as the IEEE ITS Best Dissertation Award, Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship, and Matthew J. Huber Award.
