Shi ZHOU is a tenured full Professor of Network Science at the Department of Computer Science, University College London (UCL). He is affiliated with the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and the Information and Decision Systems (IDS) Research Group. His work focuses on network science, applied machine learning, cybersecurity, and complex systems analysis. He holds a PhD from Queen Mary College (2004), and earlier degrees from Zhejiang University (BSc 1995, MSc 1998).
Research interests include social network analysis, epidemiological modeling, opinion dynamics, cybersecurity, and internet topology. Notable projects involve voter model simulations for election forecasting, botnet detection in social media platforms, and BGP routing protocol analysis in ISP networks. His work intersects with UN Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Health) and 9 (Infrastructure).
Recent research trends emphasize optimizing network structures to mitigate polarization, enhancing routing efficiency in complex networks, and developing cloud-aware security frameworks. His publications demonstrate expertise in both theoretical network models and applied cybersecurity solutions.
Grants and collaborations include projects on cloud computing classification systems (UCC), botnet lifecycle analysis, and large-scale network measurement studies. He leads the IDS Research Group at UCL, fostering interdisciplinary approaches to complex systems analysis.
