Sheryl Ryan, MD, is a Professor of Pediatrics at Penn State College of Medicine, where she also serves as Chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine and Program Director of the Interdisciplinary Addiction Medicine Fellowship. Her work focuses on substance use prevention, adolescent health, and clinical implementation of SBIRT protocols.
- Education: Yale University School of Medicine (MD), Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (Residency/Internship), and fellowships at University of California Medical Center and Cooper University Hospital.
Research Interests: Dr. Ryan specializes in pediatric addiction, adolescent eating disorders, and high-risk behaviors. Her research includes:
- Medical consequences of substance use in youth
- SBIRT implementation in primary care
- Cannabis legalization impacts on adolescent health
Recent Publications: Her 2023-2020 studies address parental consent ethics, zinc deficiency in eating disorders, naltrexone trials for eating disorders, cannabis policy analysis, and rural opioid prevention training programs.
