Sheri Oduola is an Associate Professor in Social and Psychiatric Epidemiology at the University of East Anglia's School of Health Sciences. With a background as a mental health nurse, she holds a BSc from King's College London, MSc in Health Services and Population Research, and PhD in Psychiatric Epidemiology from the Institute of Psychiatry. Her clinical experience includes working with psychotic disorders in inpatient and community settings.
Oduola's research examines social factors creating mental health inequalities, particularly in ethnic minorities, gender minorities, and rural communities. She employs mixed methods including electronic health records analysis to investigate disparities in psychosis outcomes, pathways to care, and service utilization. Currently, she leads an NIHR-funded project identifying mental health priorities for rural, coastal, and migrant communities in Norfolk and Suffolk.
She teaches research methods across nursing programs and serves as Editor for Social Psychiatry & Psychiatric Epidemiology. Oduola maintains affiliations with King's College London and Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Trust.
