Dr. Sheri L. Dragoo is Professor of Apparel Design in the Department of Human Sciences and Design at Baylor University, part of the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences. She joined Baylor in August 2019 after serving for 21 years as Professor and Design Program Coordinator for Fashion Design at Texas Woman’s University. Dr. Dragoo holds a PhD in Fashion Design with an emphasis in Education from Texas Tech University and an undergraduate degree in Home Economics with a focus on Fashion Design from San Diego Christian College (formerly Christian Heritage College).

Dr. Dragoo’s research and teaching expertise centers on innovative and sustainable approaches in apparel design. Her primary interests include technology in wearable apparel, fit and function in performance wear, apparel design for special populations, body image, and sustainable practices such as zero waste design. She integrates art and illustration into fashion pedagogy and promotes global study experiences through study abroad programs.
Her scholarly work includes juried competitions, refereed publications, grant procurement, books, peer-reviewed presentations, and published abstracts. Although specific publications are not listed, her research spans interdisciplinary areas involving design technology, human factors, sustainability, and visual communication in fashion.

Dr. Dragoo has extensive experience mentoring undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. She has led curriculum development, served on university steering committees, and provided leadership in professional organizations such as the International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) and the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. She has also held leadership roles including ITAA Annual Conference Planning Co-Chair and Executive Council Member. Her industry experience includes serving as Director of Fiber Marketing for the Texas Department of Agriculture, and she continues to collaborate with industry partners through consultancies and joint projects.
She is actively involved in academic leadership, professional service, and community engagement, contributing to both educational advancement and real-world application in the apparel and design field.
