Sheri Hartman

Sheri Hartman, PhD, is a Professor in the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health & Human Longevity Science at the University of California San Diego (UCSD), with a joint appointment in Population Science at the UCSD Moores Cancer Center. As a clinical psychologist, her work focuses on designing and evaluating behavioral interventions to improve cognition, healthy aging, and quality of life, particularly among cancer survivors. She leads NIH-funded studies examining the impact of physical activity and sedentary behavior interventions on cancer outcomes, cognitive function, and biomarkers of aging.

Dr. Hartman's research spans multiple disciplines, including behavioral medicine, oncology, and public health. Her grants include NIH awards such as R01CA225746 (2019-2024) and P01AG052352 (2017-2022), where she serves as Principal Investigator. She has pioneered studies like the Memory & Motion trial, investigating cognitive benefits of exercise in breast cancer survivors, and the Rise for Health trial, targeting sedentary behavior reduction in postmenopausal women.

Her publications emphasize translational research, including guidelines for cancer survivors’ nutrition and activity (CA Cancer J Clin, 2022), epigenetic aging analysis (Clin Epigenetics, 2021), and behavioral interventions for Latino populations (Am J Prev Med, 2020).
