Shelley Doucet is a Professor in Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), holding the Jarislowsky Chair in Interprofessional Patient-Centred Care. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. Her academic journey includes a BN from UNB Saint John (2005), MScN from the University of Western Ontario (2007), and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from UNB (2010), complemented by certifications in Interprofessional Education.
Her research focuses on interprofessional practice, integrated care, patient-centred models, and health system reform. Notable initiatives include leading the Centre for Research in Integrated Care and piloting patient navigation programs for dementia care. Dr. Doucet has secured over $30 million in grants, including major contributions from CIHR, NBHRF, and the Jarislowsky Foundation. Key projects address complex care needs, primary healthcare innovations, and transitions in care for vulnerable populations.
Teaching spans graduate supervision and undergraduate courses on health communication and professional relationships. She actively contributes to journals like the Journal of Interprofessional Care and volunteers in community initiatives, including charity runs and Trail Running NB.
