Shelah Saharon

Saharon Shelah is a renowned mathematician holding the Robinson Chair for Mathematical Logic at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem since 1978. He has served as a Professor there since 1974 and held visiting positions at Rutgers University, University of Michigan, Simon Fraser University, University of California, Berkeley, and University of Wisconsin.

Shelah's research spans foundational areas of mathematical logic, including:

• Model theory and classification theory

  His work on pcf theory (possible cofinalities) revolutionized singular cardinal arithmetic, and his monograph Cardinal Arithmetic (1994) is celebrated for solving problems previously deemed undecidable. He has authored over 1,190 publications by 2024.
