Dr. Sheila A. Hope is Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry at Keele University's School of Life Sciences. She holds a BSc in Genetics from the University of Glasgow and PhD from the University of Birmingham focused on Epstein-Barr virus and cell survival.
Research initially focused on viral control of apoptosis and cellular differentiation, particularly Epstein-Barr virus mechanisms. Current pedagogical research investigates technology-enhanced learning, including screencast feedback and flipped classroom approaches.
Teaching includes Molecular Cell Biology, Human Genetics, and Case Studies in Biotechnology. She developed innovative assessment methods using web-based projects and themed editorials.
Awarded Keele's Teaching Excellence Award (2012) for screencasting innovations and appointed Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy (2013). Completed MA in Learning and Teaching with Technology (2013).
Former research funded by Wellcome Trust and BBSRC investigated viral proteins in apoptosis regulation. Maintains professional membership in Biochemical Society and American Society for Microbiology.
