Sheetal M Kircher is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Hematology and Oncology division at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. She holds key affiliations with the Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM) - Center for Health Services & Outcomes Research and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she contributes to both clinical care and research initiatives.
Dr. Kircher's clinical expertise focuses on gastrointestinal malignancies, particularly colon/rectal cancer and pancreatic cancer. Her research spans several critical areas in oncology:
- Improving the quality of cancer care delivery
- Understanding trends in healthcare service utilization and drug expenditures
- Evaluating cancer-related health policies
- Addressing health disparities in cancer care
- Studying health economics and financial toxicity in cancer patients
Dr. Kircher completed her MD at Rush Medical College (2006) and an MHSc at the University of Michigan (2013). Her postgraduate training includes an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Chicago (2009) and Hematology-Oncology fellowship at Northwestern University, McGaw Medical Center (2011), followed by a Health Services Fellowship at Ann Arbor VA (2013). She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Her recent research demonstrates a strong emphasis on cancer care delivery systems and patient-centered outcomes. Dr. Kircher has published significant work on web-based symptom management systems, financial toxicity screening in breast cancer patients, and psychometric evaluation of assessment tools in cancer care settings, reflecting her commitment to improving the practical aspects of cancer treatment delivery.
