Shawna Hudson

Dr. Shawna Hudson is a Professor and Vice Chair of Research at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, holding the Henry Rutgers Chair of Family Medicine and Community Health. She serves as Vice Chancellor of Dissemination and Implementation Science for Rutgers Health and Senior Associate Dean for Population Health Research. She directs the Center Advancing Research and Evaluation for Patient-Centered Care (CARE-PC) and leads the Community Engagement Core of the NJ Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science (NJ ACTS).

Her research focuses on community-engaged approaches to primary care, cancer survivorship, and health equity, with a strong emphasis on underserved populations. She has led NIH-funded initiatives such as the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics for Underserved Populations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Hudson is a full research member of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and holds a secondary faculty appointment in the Department of Health Behavior, Society and Policy at the Rutgers School of Public Health.

She actively participates in national committees, including the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Committees on Implementing High-Quality Primary Care and Transforming Health Care to Create Whole Health. Her work has been featured in high-impact journals like JAMA, Lancet Oncology, and Annals of Family Medicine.
