Shawn Tafreshi

Shawn Tafreshi is an Adjunct Professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law (TJSL), where he teaches Evidence with a real-world jury trial perspective. He concurrently serves as a Deputy District Attorney supervisor in San Diego, holding leadership roles such as Chief of the North County Branch and Assistant Chief of the Major Narcotics Division. His legal career includes judicial externship experience at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and editorial leadership at the Loyola International and Comparative Law Review.

Professor Tafreshi specializes in complex homicide litigation and cold case prosecutions, recognized for his trial work. He lectures statewide on legal ethics, criminal procedure, and related topics. Beyond academia, he is deeply involved in youth mentorship, coaching mock trial teams, and advocating against youth crime through community engagement.
