David Finn

David Finn is an Adjunct Professor at California Western School of Law and a federal criminal prosecutor at the United States Attorney's Office. He has been an Assistant United States Attorney since 2011, handling over 40 federal jury trials and Ninth Circuit arguments. His work includes prosecuting international drug cartels, violent criminal enterprises, opioid-related cases, and gun/drug offenses. He served an 18-month assignment in Washington DC, training federal prosecutors on immigration and criminal law. Currently, he coordinates Project Safe Neighborhoods to combat gun violence in San Diego and Imperial County. He teaches trial advocacy at the National Advocacy Center and has coached mock trial teams for nine years.

His professional interests span criminal law, federal prosecution strategies, and legal education. He volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in Juvenile Dependency Court and serves as a Judge Pro Tem in San Diego Superior Court. He leads the San Diego Federal Bar Foundation and previously chaired the San Diego Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.

Awards: 2023 San Diego County Bar Association's Service by a Public Attorney Award

Advising/Grants: Trains new federal prosecutors via the National Advocacy Center and mentors mock trial teams. His professional development focuses on intervention, prevention, and reentry strategies for reducing gun violence. He has collaborated with federal and local agencies on high-profile criminal investigations.

Labs/Teams: Leads Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, coordinates federal prosecutor training programs, and actively participates in bar association leadership roles.
