Shawn P. McCauley is a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at Barton College. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English from East Carolina University and is currently pursuing a doctorate at Emory University.

His research focuses on Early Modern literature, particularly the representation of the human body in the works of Edmund Spenser, William Shakespeare, and John Donne, contextualized within Renaissance historical, philosophical, and medical frameworks. He has taught courses in freshman composition, British literature, Shakespeare, and American/Western Culture since joining Barton College in 2010.
McCauley has previously taught at East Carolina University and Berry College in Rome, Georgia.
