Shawn Lambert

Dr. Shawn Lambert is an Associate Professor and Undergraduate Coordinator in the Department of Anthropology and Middle Eastern Cultures at Mississippi State University, and a Research Associate at the Cobb Institute of Archaeology. His work focuses on community-engaged archaeology, Mississippian archaeology, and historic archaeology. He collaborates with Indigenous communities like the Caddo Nation to study social complexity at sites such as Cahokia and investigates pre-Columbian ceramic production and cultural interactions.

Recent research includes non-destructive analysis at Mississippian mound sites like Winterville, remote sensing of shell ring sites in South Carolina, and organic residue studies. He advocates for inclusive pedagogy in field schools and has co-edited volumes on cosmological landscapes and Mississippian imagery. His projects emphasize collaboration with descendant communities and innovative archaeological techniques.
