Dru McGill is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at North Carolina State University. Previously, he served as Curator of Collections at the Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology, Indiana University. His research focuses on late pre-Columbian Native American societies, ceramic analysis, material culture, and applied ethics in archaeology. He co-authored Ethics in Action (2008) and actively participates in professional organizations like the Society for American Archaeology (SAA) and the World Archaeological Congress (WAC). Currently, he leads the Oberlin Cemetery project in collaboration with the Friends of Oberlin Village and NC State’s Departments of History and Marine, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences.

Research interests include ceramic production techniques, Mississippian sociopolitical structures, and ethical practices in archaeological stewardship. Dr. McGill teaches courses in anthropology sub-fields, ceramic analysis, and heritage preservation at NC State.
Recent scholarly contributions address ceramic analysis at Angel Mounds, ethical dilemmas in archaeology, and public engagement strategies. His collaborations span multiple disciplines, reflecting a commitment to interdisciplinary research and community partnerships.
