He holds dual leadership roles as Co-editor of the Pacific Review and Director of Studies for EuroHub4Sino, an EU-funded initiative enhancing European understanding of China's global significance.
His research program examines China's political economy through multiple lenses, with particular emphasis on China-Europe relations, economic insecurities, and China's integration into global governance structures. Professor Breslin analyzes how Chinese economic development influences international relations and how European perceptions of China have evolved, especially regarding security and economic interdependence.
Professor Breslin leads major research initiatives including the EuroHub4Sino project that publishes policy papers on China's economic strategies and the FORAC project funded by the Academy of Finland, which assesses how small economies can enhance economic security amid China's global rise.
