Sharyn Warren serves as an Assistant Professor in the Business Division of the School of Professional Studies at Alverno College, teaching since 2012. Her instructional portfolio includes Introduction to Business and Management, Project Management (IT focus), Business Process Control and Governance, Spreadsheet Design and Analysis, and Advanced Internship Seminar.
Her educational background comprises a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management/Communication from Concordia University Wisconsin, a Master of Science in Management from the University of Maryland University College, and an Educational Specialist (EdS) in Higher Education and Adult Learning from Walden University. She is currently completing her Doctor of Education (EdD) in Leadership at Alverno College.
Warren's research centers on first-generation minority student experiences, specifically examining how first-year transitions impact sophomore retention and academic success. Her work bridges 20+ years of corporate leadership in human resources, budgeting, and strategic planning with 15 years of multimodal instructional experience.
Her 2022 narrative inquiry on first-generation students' sophomore year experiences demonstrates her methodological focus on qualitative exploration of retention barriers. Scholarly contributions emphasize the critical transition period between first and second year, particularly for underrepresented student populations in higher education.
