Sharyn Davies is Associate Professor and Director of the Herb Feith Indonesia Engagement Centre at Monash University's School of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics. She holds a PhD from the University of Western Australia and has held visiting fellowships at Cambridge, Yale, Sydney, Peking, and Airlangga Universities. Her research focuses on gender, sexuality, policing, and moral surveillance in Indonesia, with significant contributions to HIV prevention strategies and climate resilience initiatives.
Dr. Davies co-authored the award-winning book *Sex and Sexualities in Contemporary Indonesia*, recognized by the American Anthropological Association and International Convention of Asian Scholars. She has received accolades for research impact, teaching excellence, and service to Indonesian Studies. Her current projects include climate resilience frameworks, healthcare accessibility for stroke survivors, and digital strategies to combat stunting in Indonesia.
Her work intersects with UN Sustainable Development Goals on gender equality, climate action, and health equity. Collaborations span institutions in Indonesia, New Zealand, and Australia. Media engagements include commentaries on vaccine hesitancy, BMI thresholds in fertility policies, and the importance of Southeast Asian language education.
