Sharon Schutte-Rodin

Sharon Schutte-Rodin, MD, is an Adjunct Professor of Medicine (Sleep Medicine) at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine, affiliated with the Penn Sleep Centers. Her research focuses on advancing sleep medicine through electronic health records (EHRs), consumer sleep technologies, and quality measures development.

Dr. Schutte-Rodin's work centers on integrating CPAP and sleep study data into EHRs via HL7 standards, optimizing patient-reported outcomes via EHR portals, and leveraging big data for clinical quality improvements. She pioneered the Penn CPAP Program and Clinic, establishing national standards for CPAP data tracking.

• Insomnia treatment technologies, including digital cognitive behavioral therapy
• Consumer sleep wearables for OSA screening

As a board-certified Sleep Medicine physician and Behavioral Sleep Medicine specialist, she leads initiatives in patient-centered care and chairs the AASM Emerging Technology Committee. Her clinical expertise spans apnea, insomnia, restless legs, circadian disorders, and narcolepsy.
