Sharon Quinsaat is Associate Professor of Sociology and Department Chair of Peace and Conflict Studies at Grinnell College. She holds cross-appointments in Education Studies, Sociology, American Studies, Film and Media Studies, and Peace and Conflict Studies.
Her academic focus centers on social movements and migration, with particular expertise in diaspora formation, transnational repression, and immigrant political behavior. Quinsaat's research employs both qualitative and quantitative methods to examine how political activism shapes diaspora communities, with special attention to Filipino migrants in the United States and the Netherlands.
Quinsaat's research has been funded by prestigious organizations including the National Science Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities, American Association of University Women, American Philosophical Society, Russell Sage Foundation, Midwest Sociological Society, and Association for Asian Studies.
