Sharon Paterson is the Associate Dean (Development) at MIMA School of Art and Design, Teesside University, and Associate Director of the Creative Fuse North East Project. She plays a pivotal role in collaborating with creative and cultural organizations locally, nationally, and internationally, while also engaging with Further Education Colleges in the region.
Prior to her academic career, Sharon worked as a professional actor, facilitator, workshop leader, theatre designer, and creative producer, collaborating with prominent UK theatre companies such as Live Theatre Company, The Tricycle Theatre, and Northern Stage. Her research focuses on theatre as a collaborative, collective experience that fosters empathy, reflection, and creative expression, particularly through interactive and participatory performance in community contexts.
