Dr. Sharon Mbabazi Tusiime is a Seed Systems Expert at the Makerere University Regional Centre for Crop Improvement (MaRCCI), with extensive experience in horticulture, crop production, and seed science. Holding a Ph.D. in Horticulture from Iowa State University, her work focuses on improving seed systems for smallholder farmers in Uganda, particularly for tomato, cowpea, and sorghum crops. She has collaborated with over 550 farmers to enhance seed management and agronomic practices, contributing to sustainable rural livelihoods.

Her research spans seed systems, crop productivity, and agricultural development. She has led service-learning programs in Uganda and participated in international collaborations, including a NIFA-funded farmer exchange to China. At MaRCCI, she manages seed systems for breeding programs and supports training in plant breeding, seed systems, and biotechnology.
Dr. Tusiime emphasizes knowledge sharing with farmers and has co-led six bi-national teams involving students from Iowa State University and Makerere University. Her work integrates cultural exchange and practical development in agricultural systems across Uganda, the United States, and China.
