Shareen Vader serves as Instructor in Music Education & Piano and Director of the Community Music Academy (CMA) & Youth Choirs at Texas Lutheran University's School of Music. She joined TLU in 2017, became CMA Director in June 2019, and concurrently holds adjunct faculty status while maintaining active accompaniment roles for local schools and UIL events.
Her academic background includes a double major in Music Performance (Voice and Piano) with All-Level Music Education certification from Texas State University and a Master's in Choral Conducting from Louisiana State University. She trained under notable mentors including Dr. Robert Whalin (Piano), Peggy Brunner (Voice), and Dr. Kenneth Fulton (Choral Studies).
Professor Vader's professional focus centers on K-12 music education methodologies, choral program development, and piano instruction techniques. Her 31-year public school career informs her current work in cultivating youth musical talent through TLU's Community Music Academy programs.
Professional recognition includes:
- Distinguished Educator award from Judson ISD (2002-2003)
She directs TLU's youth choir initiatives and continues to shape music education through community engagement, having established choral programs across multiple Texas school districts during her public education career.
