معرفی
Shaolin Liu is an Associate Professor at the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, and the Isakson Center for Neurological Disease Research. His research focuses on the functional organization of olfactory systems in health and disease, particularly Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, using advanced techniques like optogenetics, chemogenetics, electrophysiology, and cellular imaging. Supported by NIH grants, his work bridges basic science with clinical applications in neurological disorder diagnosis and treatment.
Research Interests
- Neurodegenerative mechanisms in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases
- Olfactory bulb circuitry and dysfunction
- Optogenetic/chemogenetic modulation of neural circuits
- In vivo calcium imaging and behavioral analysis
Grants & Funding
His research has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), supporting multidisciplinary approaches to neurological disease mechanisms.
Labs & Collaborations
Liu’s lab (https://www.shaolinliu-neurolab.com/) collaborates with the Precision One Health initiative and integrates neurobiological, pharmacological, and toxicological expertise. Current team members include postdoctoral associates, PhD students, and technicians specializing in olfactory system analysis.
